For Therapists & Referral Partners
When the Clinical Picture Doesn’t Fit Neatly Into One Box
Some clients have spent years being treated for anxiety, depression, trauma, perfectionism, or burnout, and yet something still doesn’t quite explain the whole picture.
I work with adults where ADHD, autism, trauma, sensory processing, executive functioning, masking, and emotional regulation may overlap.
When You Start Wondering
Could there be more going on underneath?
Neurodivergence can be easy to miss in adults who are insightful, high-masking, perfectionistic, or exceptionally good at appearing like they have everything together.
Insight Without Implementation
They understand the coping skills, can explain exactly what they “should” do, and still struggle to consistently make themselves do it.
Recurring Burnout
They cycle through pushing hard, falling behind, becoming overwhelmed, recovering, and eventually repeating the same pattern.
Sensory Differences
Noise, textures, crowds, lighting, temperature, or other sensory input affects them more strongly than anxiety alone seems to explain.
Heavy Masking
They appear capable externally while using enormous amounts of energy rehearsing, monitoring, compensating, and trying to “get it right.”
Executive Function Struggles
Task initiation, transitions, time, organization, working memory, or shifting attention create difficulties that feel disproportionate to motivation or intelligence.
Something Still Feels Missing
They have received treatment for anxiety, depression, or trauma but continue to feel like an important part of their experience has never quite been understood.
Understanding the Overlap
Sometimes the question isn’t “Which one is it?”
ADHD, autism, trauma, anxiety, sensory differences, emotional regulation, and executive functioning can interact in ways that are difficult to understand through a single diagnostic lens.
My goal is not simply to assign another label. It is to help clients understand the patterns beneath their experiences and what those patterns mean for the way they move through the world.
Ways I Can Support Your Client
Referral options
Referrals can be made for assessment, diagnostic clarification, or ongoing neurodivergent-affirming therapy.
Adult ADHD & Autism Assessment
Lived-experience-focused assessment exploring developmental history, masking, executive functioning, sensory patterns, emotional regulation, and overlapping explanations.
Learn about assessments →Diagnostic Clarification
For clients asking whether their experience is best understood through ADHD, autism, trauma, anxiety, or some combination of these patterns.
Refer for clarification →Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy
Individual therapy for adults navigating masking, executive functioning, emotional intensity, burnout, identity, sensory overwhelm, and the experience of having a brain that works differently.
Explore therapy →Assessment-Only Referrals Welcome
Your client does not have to transfer therapy.
I’m happy to provide assessment or diagnostic clarification while your client continues their ongoing therapeutic relationship with you.
When appropriate and with client authorization, I can also coordinate findings with the referring clinician so the assessment can support your continued work together.
Who I Work With
Adults who have often spent years trying to make sense of themselves.
My practice primarily supports adults exploring ADHD, autism/AuDHD, masking, executive functioning difficulties, sensory differences, emotional intensity, burnout, and related trauma or anxiety.
I especially enjoy working with clients whose presentation is nuanced, overlapping, or easy to overlook because they have learned to compensate exceptionally well.
Common referral questions
- “Could this be ADHD rather than just anxiety?”
- “Could autism be part of the picture?”
- “How much of this is trauma versus neurodivergence?”
- “Why does this client know what to do but struggle to do it?”
- “Why does therapy help intellectually but not functionally?”
