Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy built around understanding you.
I’m Sarah Denkert, LMHC, LPC, a neurodivergent-affirming therapist and founder of Nonlinear Minds Therapy in South Florida. I provide collaborative therapy and adult ADHD, Autism, and AuDHD assessment services for adults who have spent years feeling misunderstood, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves.
A space where you can feel understood without being asked to change. You do not need the perfect words, a clear diagnosis, or a neatly organized story to begin.

Your experience deserves more than a surface-level explanation.
I believe people make more sense when we look at the whole picture.
Symptoms rarely exist in isolation. The way you think, respond, connect, cope, and move through the world is shaped by your nervous system, life experiences, relationships, environment, identity, and the demands placed on you.
My approach is especially informed by work with neurodivergent adults, trauma survivors, and people who have spent years appearing capable while quietly struggling underneath.
I also bring lived understanding of neurodivergence into this work. That perspective helps me recognize how easily overwhelm, executive dysfunction, masking, and burnout can be mistaken for a lack of effort or motivation.
At the same time, therapy is not about my experience. It is about creating enough safety and curiosity for us to understand yours.
“You do not need to prove that your experience is difficult in order for it to deserve care.
Therapy should feel thoughtful, human, and collaborative.
My work is grounded in curiosity, respect, and the belief that meaningful change begins with understanding.
Your patterns have a context.
What looks confusing or self-defeating often becomes understandable when we consider your history, nervous system, environment, and needs.
You are more than a diagnosis.
Diagnoses can provide useful language, but they should never replace curiosity about the full person sitting in the room.
Therapy should be collaborative.
You bring knowledge of your lived experience. I bring clinical perspective, thoughtful questions, and support as we make sense of it together.
Support should fit your life.
Strategies should be realistic, flexible, and designed around your actual capacity rather than an idealized version of how you should function.
We begin with curiosity, not correction.
Therapy with me is not about identifying everything you are doing wrong. It is about slowing down enough to understand what is happening beneath the surface.
Start with your experience
We make room for the full story, including the parts that feel contradictory, confusing, embarrassing, or difficult to put into words.
Notice the patterns
Together, we explore what repeatedly overwhelms you, what helps, what you have learned to hide, and what your nervous system may be anticipating.
Understand the why
We connect present-day experiences to neurodivergence, trauma, sensory needs, learned roles, relationship patterns, and survival responses.
Create meaningful support
From there, we develop realistic supports, boundaries, language, routines, and strategies that fit your life, energy, and actual capacity.
You may have spent years looking capable while quietly struggling.
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, self-aware, and deeply caring. They have often learned how to keep functioning while feeling disconnected, exhausted, anxious, or uncertain underneath.
- ✦“I understand what I need to do, but I still cannot make myself do it.”
- ✦“I feel like everyone else received instructions for life that I somehow missed.”
- ✦“I am exhausted from trying to seem okay.”
- ✦“I replay conversations and worry that I said the wrong thing.”
- ✦“I do not recognize the person I have become.”
- ✦“I have always felt different, but I do not know why.”
You do not need the perfect words or a clear explanation. We can begin with what you know, what you feel, and what no longer seems sustainable.

Your experience may include several overlapping patterns rather than one simple explanation.
Warm, thoughtful care without the clinical distance.
My style is warm, conversational, and collaborative while still being clinically grounded. You do not have to filter your thoughts into perfectly organized answers before bringing them into the room.
I may help you slow down, notice connections, question an old belief, or find language for something you have felt but could not quite explain.
Conversational, not clinical Sessions are thoughtful and grounded without feeling cold, rigid, or overly formal.
Curious, not judgmental We explore what is happening rather than labeling your reactions as failures or resistance.
Structured when helpful We can use reflection, practical tools, visual frameworks, and concrete next steps when you need more direction.
Because people rarely heal or understand themselves in a straight line.
Growth is not linear.
Healing is not linear.
Identity is not linear.
Neither are the stories that shape us.
Sometimes progress looks like moving forward. Sometimes it looks like slowing down, revisiting an old pattern, changing direction, or finally recognizing why something has been so difficult.
Nonlinear Minds reflects the belief that therapy should make room for complexity. You can hold conflicting feelings, need different things at different times, and still be moving toward something meaningful.
You are not behind. Your path may simply have never been linear.
