Understanding Before Labels
Adult ADHD, Autism & AuDHD Assessments in Florida
I don’t believe assessments should feel like being judged against a checklist. They should feel like someone finally helping you make sense of your story.
Nonlinear Minds Therapy provides collaborative, neurodivergent-affirming ADHD, Autism, and AuDHD assessments for adults through secure telehealth available throughout Florida.
Instead of only asking, “Do you meet diagnostic criteria?”
We also ask, “What explains your experience?”
Many adults begin exploring assessment after years of masking, compensating, burnout, executive functioning challenges, sensory differences, emotional overwhelm, or feeling that previous diagnoses never explained the full picture. We look at your developmental history, current experiences, strengths, challenges, and areas of overlap such as trauma and chronic stress to understand the broader pattern.

Built for Adults Who May Have Been Missed
ADHD and Autism do not always look the way they are stereotypically described. We consider masking, compensation, internalized experiences, and the strategies you may have developed over time.
Trauma-Informed & Context-Aware
Trauma, chronic stress, burnout, and neurodivergence can overlap. Rather than assuming every experience has the same explanation, we explore how the pieces may interact.
Collaborative & Lived-Experience Focused
Your lived experience is an essential part of the assessment. We look at how you navigate daily life, relationships, emotions, sensory experiences, expectations, and the ways you have learned to adapt.
Adults in Broward County, Palm Beach County, Miami-Dade County, and communities throughout Florida are welcome to reach out for assessment and diagnostic clarification.
Making Sense of the Whole Picture
What Can an Adult ADHD, Autism or AuDHD Assessment Help Clarify?
Many adults seek an assessment because they know something about the way they experience the world feels different, but they aren’t sure what explains it. You may have wondered about ADHD or Autism for years, started questioning things after burnout, or realized that anxiety, trauma, or another diagnosis doesn’t fully explain your experience.
An adult ADHD, Autism or AuDHD assessment can help explore how patterns across your childhood, relationships, work, emotions, sensory experiences, and everyday functioning fit together.
Attention & Executive Functioning
Difficulty starting tasks, shifting attention, managing time, remembering what you meant to do, organizing, prioritizing, or regulating attention and motivation.
Masking & Compensation
Working hard to appear organized, social, calm, or capable while privately feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, confused, or like you’re constantly compensating.
Sensory & Regulation Differences
Sensitivity to sound, light, textures, environments, interruptions, or other sensory input, along with patterns of overstimulation, shutdown, overwhelm, or difficulty regulating.
Social & Communication Patterns
Feeling like social interaction requires extra effort, rehearsing or analyzing conversations, missing unspoken expectations, needing recovery time, or experiencing relationships differently from others.
Burnout & Emotional Overwhelm
Cycles of pushing yourself to keep up and then crashing, becoming overwhelmed by demands, struggling with emotional intensity, or finding that strategies that once worked no longer do.
Overlapping Explanations
Understanding how ADHD, Autism, trauma, anxiety, chronic stress, burnout, and other experiences may overlap — and which explanation best fits the patterns across your life.
You don’t need to know whether ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, or something else is the “right” explanation before seeking an assessment. Figuring out what fits — and what doesn’t — is part of the process.

Questions
Adult ADHD, Autism & AuDHD Assessment FAQs
How do I know if I need an assessment?
If you’ve been wondering whether ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, executive functioning differences, or another explanation might help make sense of your experiences, an assessment can provide greater clarity. If you’re unsure where to begin, a Diagnostic Consultation can help you explore the next step.
Can I be assessed for both ADHD and Autism?
Yes. ADHD and Autism can occur together, often referred to as AuDHD. Your assessment can explore both when that fits your questions and experiences, rather than requiring you to decide which one seems more likely before you begin.
What if I mask heavily or was missed earlier in life?
Many adults seeking assessment have spent years adapting, compensating, or masking traits that were not recognized earlier. The process considers your developmental history, internal experiences, coping strategies, and patterns across your life—not only what is outwardly visible today.
Can assessments be completed virtually?
Yes. Adult ADHD, Autism, and AuDHD assessments are available through secure telehealth for adults throughout Florida. Depending on the assessment, the process may include clinical interviews, online questionnaires, assessment measures, guided reflections, and collaborative discussion.
What kinds of concerns can an assessment help explore?
Assessment may explore ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, executive functioning, sensory differences, emotional regulation, masking, burnout, anxiety, trauma-related patterns, and other experiences that may help explain the broader picture.
Will I receive a diagnosis?
Not always. Sometimes the information supports a diagnosis, and sometimes it points toward a different explanation or the need for additional evaluation. The goal is meaningful clarity—not forcing your experiences into a particular label.
What if I don’t meet the criteria for a diagnosis?
You can still leave with meaningful insight. Assessment may help identify patterns, strengths, support needs, and recommendations even when a formal diagnosis is not given.
What’s the difference between the Diagnostic Understanding Assessment and the Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment?
The Diagnostic Understanding Assessment focuses on deeper diagnostic clarification with personalized written findings. The Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment includes a more extensive clinical report and may include documentation or accommodation recommendations when clinically appropriate.
Will this replace a neuropsychological evaluation?
No. These services are clinical diagnostic assessments and are not neuropsychological evaluations. They do not include IQ testing, learning disability testing, or comprehensive neuropsychological testing.
Can these assessments be used for accommodations?
When clinically appropriate, the Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment may include accommodation recommendations and supporting documentation. Acceptance is ultimately determined by the school, employer, testing agency, or other organization requesting documentation.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can contact Nonlinear Minds Therapy directly to begin the assessment process. If you’re unsure which option fits your needs, you can begin with a Diagnostic Consultation.
Can I use my insurance?
Assessment services are private pay. You may receive a superbill to submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on your individual plan.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. Flexible payment plans are available to help make the assessment process more manageable.
How long does the assessment process take?
The process varies depending on the assessment option you choose and scheduling availability. Assessments generally include information gathering, clinical assessment, interpretation, and feedback.
How is your assessment process different?
The process looks beyond checklists and test scores. We consider developmental history, executive functioning, sensory experiences, emotional regulation, masking, strengths, nervous-system patterns, and life experiences to understand how the pieces fit together.
What areas do you serve?
Nonlinear Minds Therapy provides virtual assessment services to adults throughout Florida, including Broward County, Palm Beach County, Miami-Dade County, and other Florida communities.
